Fistral Beach, Newquay
Backed by high cliffs and sand dunes this iconic surfing beach is world famous for its breakers and golden sands. It is home to all the big UK surf competitions including Boardmasters, the Quicksilver Skins, the UK Pro Surf Tour and the BUSA Championships but it doesn’t matter whether you’re a beginner or a pro it’s the place to get your adrenaline-fix from the waves. Onshore there are plenty of opportunities to book surf lessons, hire equipment or just soak up the atmosphere in the complex of cafes and restaurants which includes Rick Stein Fistral.
Porthminster Beach, St Ives
This award-winning blue flag beach is a family favourite with its golden sands and its translucent calm waters perfect for swimming. Relax in a deck chair and take in the tropical feel from the surrounding palm trees and mild climate. Porthminster Beach Café has won many prestigious awards and is famous for its seafood; with an unspoilt view of the beach, it is in a great spot if you are feeling peckish. Porthmeor Beach, St Ives
A stone’s throw from the centre of St Ives, and sitting in the shadow of the iconic Tate St Ives, Porthmeor is a sandy blue flag beach popular with swimmers and surfers alike. It is busy in the summer with families and in the winter the local surfers have the Atlantic rollers on their doorstep. A great beach to set down your picnic blanket!
Carbis Bay, St Ives
Owned by the Carbis Bay Hotel this blue flag beach is listed as one of the world’s best by the Most Beautiful Bays in the World Organisation. Surrounded by sub-tropical plants with golden sands and turquoise waters and served by the picturesque St Ives branch line the beach is a haven for families with young children.
Lantic Bay, Polruan, Fowey
Cut into towering cliffs smothered with gorse this cove is one of the most stunning locations in Cornwall. Access to this sand and shingle beach is well worth the steep 20-minute hike but once you reach the shoreline you can just relax and savour the peace and tranquillity. A great beach for a romantic evening or just chilling out and daydreaming! Our new properties at Old Station Master’s House are just a short journey away in Fowey.
Perranporth Beach, Perranporth
A great place for surfing, snorkelling, sailing, building sandcastles and playing in the dunes this beach is a family favourite. The beach is huge and almost feels as if you have the place to yourself when the tides right out take a two-milewalk up the beach to Ligger Point. The beach is also home to the UK’s only beach bar, the renowned music venue the Watering Hole. It is a rather impressive beach! The Dunes, one of our new developments, is located on Perranporth Beach.
Charlestown Beach, St Austell
Not a sand lover? Head to the south-facing sloping pebble beach accessed via the harbour home to the famous tall ships and one of Cornwall’s top attractions, the Shipwreck and Heritage Centre. The nearby beaches of Porthpean and Duporth can we reached on foot from Charlestown Beach via the South West Coast Path. Watch out for a new Acorn Blue development coming soon nearby.
