Our Devon and Cornwall office Acorn Blue has submitted a planning application for a £14m scheme to redevelop the Grade II-listed Oliver Buildings in Barnstaple in partnership with Wessex Investors.
The regeneration project would create fifty 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments and duplexes and 1,227 sq ft of commercial space.
The restoration of the riverside Grade II-listed Oliver Buildings will breathe new life into the long-vacant buildings and along with the new build elements create a key site on the south bank of the River Taw.
Subject to planning it is anticipated that works will start later this year.
Barnstaple’s southern bank has been the focus of wider regeneration plans in recent years with the development of an Asda supermarket and a retail park and further housing currently under construction.
Andrew Strathdee, Development Director at Acorn Blue said, “We are looking forward to delivering a dynamic project which will act as the gateway building for the wider regeneration of Barnstaple’s southern bank. These beautiful listed brick buildings together with their riverside courtyard will provide an exciting community focus to the area.”
