Giving back to the communities we work within is a fundamental part of the Acorn ethos, and we actively encourage our team members to get involved in community work by giving them an additional two days leave per year, enabling them to support local charities, devote time to community projects or take part in fundraising events. Last month the Blue team put this to good use and spent the day building a new shelter at the Hope Tree Centre near Perranporth, Cornwall.
The Hope Tree Centre is a local community interest company aiming to promote wellbeing and environmental awareness for children, young people, families and adults through a range of activities, courses and education sessions. Benefiting both the local and wider community, the purpose of the shelter is to facilitate these activities and connect people with the natural environment. Created from a range of temporary building structures, the shelter blends easily with its natural surroundings and would leave no trace on the land if it were removed.
Well done to Stuart, Mike, Dave, Ryan and Wayne who took part. They managed to avoid the rain and hope they are as lucky when they return to finish the job in a few weeks time!
