On the 12th September, we reached a momentous milestone in the development of The Old Printworks in Frome where we hosted a ‘Topping Out’ ceremony to celebrate the completion of the first two phases of the development.
To mark the occasion, the team fitted a final light dome on top of apartment block four, signifying its completion as the third and final phase of homes launch for sale in the 159 home development.
The ceremony was attended by key personnel who have contributed to the development thus far, including Acorn construction and design staff, Joint Venture partners London & County, architects PAD-Design and PFA Consultancy.
Situated within walking distance of Frome town centre and with excellent transport links to Bristol and London, the award-winning The Old Printworks is comprised of two, three and four bedroom homes and has proved extremely popular with buyers, with over 90% of the second phase of homes have now sold.
A thriving community within The Old Printworks has been growing since its first residents have moved in, with the new homeowners demonstrating their neighbourly spirit by organising an open garden event to raise funds for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance and the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance after a resident required air-lifting.
Regional Managing Director at Acorn, Robin Squire, commented: “The topping out ceremony at The Old Printworks marks a momentous milestone in the overall development. The site is another excellent example of Acorn’s commitment to the regeneration of brownfield sites.
“We placed a large emphasis on creating a community feel within The Old Printworks, where neighbours could come together to enjoy the green open spaces and new boardwalk along the River Frome. We’re delighted that the homeowners have really embraced this community spirit and are coming together over their shared love of The Old Printworks. We’re extremely proud of this development and we look forward to completing construction later this year.”
Managing Director at London & County, Simon Blair, commented: “It’s very exciting to see the significant progress made in the construction of The Old Printworks construction. The development has already won over the hearts of the current residents, and is a testament to all involved and the enormous benefits that regenerating previous brownfield sites can have on a community.”
